Finally, there's a native list view control available for Clarion! Not only the Explorer uses list view controls to display the files on your harddisk, but more and more applications are using these controls for all different purposes. Now you can too!

Being the fourth product in our series of wrapper classes for common controls of the win32 api, SysList profits from our large experience in this area. Again, it is possible to use list view controls without writing a single line of code! As an addition, it is even possible to have the list view control display data from a Clarion queue! This makes it easy for example to sort the list's contents by clicking on a column's header (which is only one of the supported features).

We're also proud to tell that the full range of functions (at least those that are relevant for a Clarion application) is supported - the SysList class has more than 100 member functions to tweak the appearance and behavior of the control! But don't be afraid, using the templates even beginners get a list view working in under 5 minutes!

One issue when talking about native windows controls is event handling. Like all our Sys* products, SysList uses our unique mechanism of mapping control events to virtual callback procedures. For each event fired by the control, there's a virtual member function you can override to implement your very own event handling.

SysList is also the first of our products that ships with a compiled html help file (chm format).

However, there's one thing SysList CANNOT do: Since it is a common mistake to confuse lists with browses, we feel obliged to tell you that SysList does NOT support file browsing. Maybe there'll be in a future release, but currently it's a pure wrapper class interfacing the windows api with Clarion - and that's what we wanted it to be!

Here's a list with only some of the supported features:

  • large icon, small icons, list and report view modes
  • clickable headers
  • drag-and-drop reordering of columns
  • grid-lines (in report view)
  • flat scrollbars
  • label-editing
  • single or multiple item selection
  • checkboxes
  • callback procedures for event handling
  • hot-tracking
  • background image
  • and more...

New in version 1.1:

  • draggable items
  • custom font support
  • improved mouse event handling
